How
often does my son / daughter have this class?
In grade 6 the students will come
to Engineering Tech. every day unless they need to see a specialist
for any reason. In grades 7 and 8 the students will
come to Engineering Tech. for 4 days out of the 6 day rotating
schedule. This adds up to about 32 meeting times for
the 6th grade and about 24 meeting times for grades 7 and
8.
How
long does one term last?
One term lasts about 9 weeks
Will
my child be taking this course all three years?
Yes, all kids will be taking Engineering
Tech. for one term each year.
What
is the FAA department?
The FAA department is the Fine and
Applied Arts department to include: Engineering Technology,
Health and Wellness, Music, and
Art.
What
is the FAA rotation?
Students will rotate through all
four FAA subject areas in the following order. Engineering
Technology, Health and Wellness,
Music, and Art. Students will go to Engineering Technology
from Art.
Can my son / daughter
do any extra credit?
Yes, there are many extra credit
activities for all three grade levels. Go to the Extra
Credit section and select the appropriate grade level.
Can I download
any curriculum from my home computer?
Yes, most of the curriculum is available
for download. Go to the Homework
section and select the appropriate grade level.
Can I come in
and see some activities in action?
Absolutely! Parents and guardians
are more than welcome to stop in and see their son/daughter
in action. It is recommended that you call first to
avoid coming on a day that we are taking a quiz or a test.

Do you offer any
extra curricular activities for kids?
Yes, I am currently running two
after school clubs through Triple - E. I am also offering
an "Engineering TechElect" elective during the school day.
Can I make an
equipment donation to your program?
Yes, we always accept equipment
donations as long as the equipment is fairly current. I usually
do not take any equipment older that what we have now. Contact
me with any ideas.
Where can I purchase
the software you use in class?
There are links to many vendors
listed on the Curriculum
pages for each grade level. If you do not see the vendor
listed there, check out the Teacher
Resources page. If you still do not see what you want,
contact
me and I will be glad to assist you.
Do you welcome
guest speakers in your classes?
Absolutely! Actually, soon
I will be looking for women engineers to volunteer to speak
to a small group of seventh grade girls about what they do
at their jobs. I'll keep you posted. Contact
me if you have any suggestions or contacts.
